Frequently asked questions

  1. Q

    What about Helmets?

    A

This has been one the most asked questions for a number of years now. The are NOT required. We do recommend them particularly for snowboarders on the trips or for more aggressive athletes. Ex. one of my son's is just a casual cruiser on the slopes. Never made him wear one. My other son however is a wild man an d we put a brain bucket on his head! Bike and skateboard helmets work well and helmets are available at the mountain for $8 cash.
  2. Q

How does one learn to ski or snowboard on a slope in metro Atlanta?

    A

We build teaching slopes on school campuses using what we call snow turf. The teaching method is known as dry slope training however the slope if often NOT dry.
  3. Q

What does my child need for the trip/s?

    A

To start they need to dress for conditions. Waterproof pants, gloves etc. Check the forecast to see if layers are appropriate. Rental clothing is available at around $8/piece at the mountain(cash please) We will provide deposit for rental clothing needs. Food; Bring breakfast for the bus ride, packing a lunch is a good idea for a kid who orders burger, fries, candy and a soda will rack up a tab closing in on $20. Pizza stop is usally $7 or $8 and we collect $2 for tipping of the bus drivers
  4. Q

Who chaperones the trip and can my child get lost?

    A

Typically Teachers from the school and we always have several parents joining in on the fun so the presents of more adults always help keep the kids in line. The mountain is small and all the slopes feed into the one base area and there are 2 lodges. Why does my child have to go to ski school?

    A

We only require it if they have less than 3 days on snow in the past 24 months for skiers and 5 day for snowboarders. The lesson is to have them warm up and when they can demonstrate the skills to turn right, and left and can stop without the aid of a person, tree or building then the instructor will release them to free ski or ride the mountain with some suggestions one the next slopes to try.
